Village of Friendship

The Village of Friendship (population 728), Adams County, has an immediate opening for a Director of Public Works. Preferred candidate must have Commercial Driver License, “B”, “C” & “D” with air brake endorsement and will hold a Class “D” Water Distribution License or be able to obtain in a timely fashion. Job Description: Public Works Director

 

Essential Function of the Job: 

Assists in garbage collection (beach, park & Village property), mowing, brushing and snow removal

Repair and maintain or construct water & sewer systems

Repair roads and road surfaces

Operate all Village equipment safely

Supervise other Village employees in performing assigned work

Any other duties as directed by the Village Board

 

Additional Examples of Work Performed:

Waterworks (meter testing and repair, sample collection, hydrant flushing, quarterly meter reading)

Sewer Rodding

Supervise and perform snowplowing operations

Streets-(Stripe parking/crosswalks)

Daily Equipment Maintenance & Inspection

Lift Station maintenance

Park/Beach maintenance

Ability to read and fully understand a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

 

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

Experience in water & sewer maintenance and construction operations

Ability to handle emergency situations which may and do arise

Maintain good public relations

Knowledge of local, state and national codes and safety requirements

 

Qualifications:

Waterworks certification (State of Wisconsin)

Commercial Driver’s License BCD with air brake endorsement

CPR BLS Course A

Experience in water & sewer utility work

Efficient and safe operation of equipment

High School  graduate or  equivalent

Three (3) year work experience in this category or related category

Hazmat certification or ability to obtain within six months

Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
